The white long sleeve dress has made a return to stores recently with the arrival of autumn’s crisp air. Just as versatile in spring, its light colour and longer coverage strikes the perfect balance for trans-seasonal dressing. Typically airy in their construction, a long sleeve dress is perfect for layering up when the weather turns cold. As a traveller, pieces like this are essential when moving through multiple climates. Whether you’re preparing for winter ahead or about to step into summer, here are some simples ways you can style a long sleeve dress all year round…
STYLING A LONG SLEEVE DRESS
- Summer: the simplest of them all. Sandals and a leather satchel are all you’ll need for the beach to the bar. Look for linen fabric or a larger cut to let the air flow through.
- Autumn/Fall: prepare for cool nights with ankle boots and a leather jacket. For a softer look, throw a fuzzy sweater over the top and belt at the waist. Statement sleeves also allow you to show of classic accessories like a timepiece.
- Winter: for extra warmth pair with knee-high boots and an oversized coat. A fedora and scarf are always on hand if it’s extra chilly. To avoid crushing the sleeves look for a cape style coat where your arms can peek through.
- Spring: the arrival of pastel mules and pretty heels will accentuate this dress’ feminine details. For cooler nights, layer a fluid trench or vest which will add movement to your look.
MAGALI PASCAL LONG SLEEVE DRESS
I picked up the Rousseau Dress by Magali Pascal on my last visit to her Paddington boutique. I love the frill detail in the 3/4 sleeves and waistline. It makes a natural point for belting a jumper over the top and keeping a feminine shape. Being beautifully warm in Sydney at the moment I only needed some ankle boots for covering up my toes. Then it was time to explore…

SHOP THE LONG SLEEVE DRESS
What do you think of wearing a dress in winter? I love all of the intricate styles that come out. From detailed sleeves to dark florals and asymmetrical layers. This season I plan to experiment more with layering so that I’ll have more options amongst my wardrobe classics. I’m going to try my woolen longline vest with this dress next.
