I’m the first to admit that in everyday life I’m not really a dress girl. I love to shop for them (and my wardrobe is testament to that) but when I’m running errants, jeans and a tee is always my fallback. Since travelling though I’ve made a conscious effort to include dresses in my suitcase. Mainly because they channel that carefree holiday vibe so well. And when I think about it, a summer dress lends itself to my fuss-free approach to dressing anyway. Less time matching tops and bottoms means more time out exploring new places.
When it’s time to find a dress for a new trip (yes, that’s my excuse every time) there are a few brands that I turn to for their take on resort style. One of those is Faithfull The Brand, whose lightweight, easy-wearing designs are reminiscent of summertime in Europe. I’ve picked up a few striped maxis over the years and love the way their prints balance exotic and classic design, meaning they’ll stand the test of time at home and abroad.
A NEW KIND OF SUMMER DRESS
In their latest collections, Las Nomada and A Place In The Sun, you’ll find the Nina Midi Dress. My new favourite silhouette boasts a deep v-neck and tie-up sleeves. It’s an elevated take on the beach dress, more romantic with its plunging neckline and yet modest with a mid-length hem. Extra details like the tie sleeves and cinched-in waist make it the perfect dinner dress that isn’t overdone. If you’re in love with this style as much as I am I’ve put together some styling tips and shopable looks below. But first, the stunning campaign imagery shot by Cameron Hammond in the Canary Islands…

STYLING THE SUMMER DRESS
This kind of summer dress, with its printed fabric, really is the feature. You want to style it with paired back accessories to keep things simple.
- Flat sandals will do here and as you can see above, tan are best.
- Keep jewellery delicate, gold will compliment the warmth of this print.
- If your hair is up it’s the perfect excuse to unpack your statement earrings. Otherwise, fine gold necklaces make the most of a plunging neckline.
- Rather sunglasses? A tortoiseshell pair will work beautifully with the buttons.
- As for handbags, there are two great options. Something uber relaxed by day, like a market tote or straw bag. And something compact for evenings out, like a leather cross-body bag.

What do you think of this summer dress silhouette? Will you be adding the tie-sleeve style to your travel wardrobe? Personally, I’m thinking of ways I can get to Europe before summer’s out so I can take one with me.
